PROJECT CONTEXT
Jelly Recycle was created at CSULB Beach Hacks which was held on Earth Day, April 22. In honor of Earth Day, our team created an educational mobile application game to promote environmental awareness and to teach the valuable benefits of recycling.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The goal of Jelly Recycle is to collect the most points without colliding into a boulder. The speed of the game gradually increases. Points are gained by collecting items. Each item is worth 5 or 10 points which correlates to the CRV (California Refund Value) of 5 or 10 cents. Interesting facts about recycling are shown on the start and end screen. The jellyfish can be moved from side to side by tilting the mobile device to the left and right.

MY ROLE
I designed everything that was visual. I created jellyfish sprite animations (swimming and dying), recyclable items, boulder obstacles, buttons, infinite scrolling backgrounds, introduction screen and end screen. I worked with three CSU Long Beach students whose majors are Computer Science.
INTEGRATED FEATURES
Techniques used include reaching milestones for the speed of the game and dedicated systems to handle gradual accelerated movement. Components that were used include Object Manager, Box Collider, sound effects and background music.
DESIGN ASSETS
Point System
The items that the jellyfish collects are able to be recycled for cash value. The item's cash value is equal to game point values. The drink item points are based on California Refund Value (CRV) which is 5 cents for each container under 24 ounces and 10 cents for each container 24 ounces or greater. Scrap metal and paper are also 5 points each.
